A new vulnerability emerges in the Linux kernel in the versions Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Velvet, Trusty Tahr. In each of these versions, two flaws were detected, which were identified by the users themselves. These flaws have already been remedied, but it is necessary to update the version for the implementation of these fixes.

In Ubuntu version 14.04.

The flaws were identified that a local user could perform the action of escalating to Root privileges and thus steal private information through the kernel, this arose due to a flaw in the multisystem driver. Also in this version it had not reserved, nor limited the space occupied by the file where the record is saved, so the system service could be denied with a DoS Attack.

In the Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Velvet version.

The leakage of information in the Kernel was detected, due to a flaw in the driver in the multisystem of the Linux kernel, so a user could steal private information. The other flaw that was identified was that space was not reserved for the log file, which can be a denial of service.

These security vulnerabilities affect all versions of Ubuntu (Ubuntu, Edubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Exc). Therefore, it is recommended to update and implement other security measures.
